Performing routine maintenance is essential to ensure your epoxy floors last as long as possible. Here are some tips and tricks to protect and clean your epoxy floor. 

1. Routine maintenance should be done with a soft-bristle broom or dust mop. To ensure your flooring remains debris-free, it’s best to sweep or mop daily.
2. Heavy-duty cleaning is best done after sweeping away any debris. You can use a hard foam mop, hot water, and clear ammonia. This mixture will remove any spills or stains that have made their way to the floor. Additionally, an epoxy floor can be hosed down and wiped dry.
3. When choosing cleaning products, it’s important to remember not to use cleaning products that can leave a residue on the flooring. These are any products that contain acids or soap-based cleaners.
4. Staining may require light scrubbing with a scrubbing pad. COAT Systems does not recommend using abrasive cleaning chemicals on the flooring.
5. It would help if you placed welcome mats in front of any doors to reduce damages caused by snow or water from shoes. Additionally, “pretreatment” winter compounds can leave a hazy film on the flooring. To clean the cloudy film, you’ll need hot water and a deck brush; extra rinsing will keep the compounds from drying onto the floor.
6. Heavy equipment may damage flooring over time when continuously dragged or placed in the same spot. Because of this, it’s essential to ensure all areas are clean before lifting heavy loads with rolling jacks and remember to put pieces of plywood under jack stands when holding heavy loads.
